$1 billion tax cut plan continues forward in Missouri House

April 29th, 2009

MO House Speaker Ron Richard (R)-Springfield and House Republicans have made good progress in advancing a proposal that would use $1 billion of Missouri’s federal stimulus dollars as a tax cut. As of Monday, April 27th, by a vote of 7-3, the House Tax Refform Committee added the tax cut onto a bill that will provide tax credits to individuals making donations to providers of developmental disability care. All of this was done as Democrats on the Rules Committee made whinning claims of rules violations. After House Rules Chairman Mike Parson (R)-Bolivar ruled agianst their point of order motion, the Democrats tucked their tails and walked out of the hearing before the bill was presented to the committee. We here at MCV PAC believe that Missouri Legislative Democrats are clinging to their ideology of higher taxes and increasing welfare. Prior to their claims of rules violations, Democrats said the proposal was illegal since the $1 billion is not considered general revenue. Well, unfortunatly for Democrats, the money could be considered general revenue as long as exhisting programs aren’t cut. With the Friday Constitutional balanced budget deadline quickly approaching, Democrats are running out of time. Will Governor Wrong Way Jay Nixon try and deny Missourians a tax cut? We will see.

MCVPAC Keeping Jay Accountable

April 24th, 2009

MCVPAC readers will recall our reporting regarding the appointment of Democrat donor and party operative Doug Galaske as Fee Agent for the Moberly License Office.  MCVPAC has gathered the information regarding all of Missouri’s 183 License Offices and will keep a watchful eye on the bid process as it continues to develop.  Since the Department of Revenue has decided to make this information obscure and scattered across its website, and since the media across the state has decided to turn a deaf ear to this process, MCVPAC promises to keep you informed.

Here is the link to information regarding the fee offices. We will keep this information updated regularly.  It can also be accessed on the sidebar of the website.

We will hold Governor Jay Nixon accountable to the promises he has made, even if the traditional media will not.

Tea Party Time

April 18th, 2009

On Wednesday, Missourians for Conservative Values participated in the Kansas City Tea Party at the Liberty Memorial. About 5,000 people showed up to protest against outrageous government spending, higher taxes, and large government in general. Chris Stigall from KCMO 710 was the keynote speaker, who rallied the people in attendance to continue to take a stand against government spending and the growing government control. He also promoted continued activism among those who showed up, and encouraged the people to be persistent in making their voice and opinion heard among our local, state, and national government officials.

One unique aspect of this protest, that MCV supports and in our opinion made it successful, was that the event caused people to transcend divisive factors such as age, economic standing, race, and party lines, and take a stand for their personal convictions. Like the national slogan, the tea party really did convey that the majority will be “silent no more” in taking a stand against the policies and decisions our government officials are making.

Below are some more photos from the event.

Apologizer in Chief

April 17th, 2009

President Obama penned an op-ed that appeared in over 15 Latin America newspapers and the Miami Herald.  Once again, he apologizes for the United States.  MCVPAC finds the following excerpt very disturbing:

Too often, the United States has not pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors. We have been too easily distracted by other priorities, and have failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas. My Administration is committed to the promise of a new day. We will renew and sustain a broader partnership between the United States and the hemisphere on behalf of our common prosperity and our common security.

Claire in the News

April 15th, 2009

After reading the following piece in the St. Joseph News-Press, MCVPAC wonders how the liberal front group Catholics United feels about Claire’s pro-abortion stances, including her endorsement from Emily’s List.

More Corruption in Jeff City

April 10th, 2009

For all the fuss our counterpart Roy Temple at FiredUP! has made over the alleged investigations into alleged corruption in Jefferson City, we wonder how he missed this report from the St. Louis Post-dispatch:

Pro-Life Response Needed

April 9th, 2009

[From Missouri Right to Life, missourilife.org]

Dear Pro-Lifers

Pro-Life Response Needed Soon to Obama Axing Abortion Conscience Protections Washington, DC (LifeNews.com)

President Barack Obama has proposed overturning the conscience protections the Bush administration put in place and pro-life advocates have until Thursday to respond. Prominent pro-life groups are urging every pro-life advocate to issue a public comment by this week’s deadline.

Three different federal laws provide legal protections for medical professionals. After determining those laws were not always followed by local governments and some medical centers, the Bush administration sought to strengthen them. The Bush administration put the rules in place to require a written agreement to follow the conscience laws and gave victims better access to federal employment discrimination agencies to consider legal action if their rights were violated. Relying on claims from leading pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood, Obama instructed his administration to overturn the new rules.

Pro-life advocates can express their opposition to the Obama proposal by emailing proposedrescission@hhs.gov. The deadline for submitting comments is April 9. Comments may be submitted electronically on the Web site www.Regulations.gov (by entering 0991-AB49 in the search box). Several pro-life groups have also banded together to offer freedom2care.org, a web site with tools to make it easy for pro-life people to respond to Obama’s likely decision to rescind the medical protections. http://www.freedom2care.org / Full story at LifeNews.com
